tips para coser corte princesa!

Hola Amigos, hoy vengo con un tip para coser un estilo corte princesa, mientras trabajaba en un proyecto vogue 9100 de McCall.  Es un hermoso patron que para algunos puede ser intimidante por la maravillosa curva en el pecho que se forma con el corte princesa, pero que en realidad si se usa una buena tecnica, no habria mucho de que preocuparse.

Para empezar el corte princesa esta divido de tres piezas por delante y por detras, teniendo en cuenta que la pieza central siempre se corta doblada.  estas piezas al unirlas forman una curva que salen al cortar el patron por toda la pinza hasta pasar por el pecho y llegar al hombro, algunas solo llegan hasta el pecho. Asi de esta manera, al cortar la pinza y tratar de unir las dos piezas, se dice que el patron no es Flat o plano.

En la siguiente foto les mostrare las piezas de las que hablo:

Aqui podemos observar la pieza #5, es la pieza mas redonda y la que va al costado, y la pieza #1 se corta doblada y es la que va en el centro.  Mi recomendacion es poner la pieza #1 que es la que tiene la linea de costura mas plana y menos redonda debajo de la pieza #5, y estas son mis razones:

1. la pieza #1 estando debajo cerca de los dientes de la maquina, estos dientecitos estiran un poco la tela siempre, asi que es ideal en esta situacion donde muchos patrones tiene una diferencia de 1 cm entre pieza y pieza para darle la forma redonda que encierra el busto.
2. teniendo la piza #5 debajo, es mas facil maniobrar la pieza redonda sin hacer enruches o coser tela por equivocacion, cosa que sucede mucho cuando muchos esta cosiendo las mangas de la blusa o camisa.

Aqui les quiero plasmar una idea de como hacerlo.!

En el anterior video pudimos observar que no podemos coser las dos piezas como una linea derecha, hay que hacer la curva y por eso es facil maniobrarla si esta pieza esta arriba.

En la siguiente foto les mostrare como queda la pieza mia, y observaran un bolsita que se hace en el pecho, es normal y es lo ideal.  Porque? ciertamente este espacio o bolsa es la que abraza el seno, la que le da forma,  si ésta no existiera, se harian unas pequenas lineas en el pecho que querria decir que la tela estaria apretada o sin forma.

tips to work with a princess seam

Hello friends, here I am with another tip while working in my pattern Vogue 9100. It is a beautiful pattern with princess seams that can scared or intimidate some people, so here is one on my tips to make it much easier.

To start, the princess seam is divided in 2 or 3 pieces which 2 sides and one center piece. So the sides pieces are very round, it is not a flat seam so you need to rotate the fabric while sewing and for that you need to put the right piece under the other.

Let see in the next picture the 2 pieces, side piece and center one.

Here you can see much better, the left piece #5 is the side and round one, and the right piece #1 is CF cutted in the fold, notice the piece #1 is more straight than the #5. So to sew this pieces together you need to put the flat #1 under the #5 for some reasons:

1.  When the piece #1 is under the feed dogs of the sewing machine will give some stretch that will help match the round piece. 

2.  It is easier to move or rotate the round piece on the top forming the nice bubble you need to snuggle the breast.

Here there is a nice idea of how to do it!

You will see in my video that you can not sew it straight forward, you will need to rotate the fabric keeping both edges together wit the same seam allowance; and in the picture below you will see in my princess seam a little bubble for the breast? That is right! You want to have it, because it is going to snuggle your breast. It can not be flat or it will look like a cat with whiskers.

Muchos saben que mi estilo es siempre casual pero de vez en cuando es bueno subirle el tono y yo simplemente le agrego un blazer a mi outfit.  Me gustan en todo tipo de colores pero en especial en telas cómodas.  Este ponte knit es perfecto para este patrón que recomiendo de McCall.

Every body know that my style is simple and casual but from time to time I like to take it a notch up, and it is that moment where I throw a blazer to my outfit.  This amazing pattern from McCall that I highly recomend is for knits, the main reason why I love it.  If I want to look good but comfortable, a knit fabric is my election.

Not, I don't get tired of this pattern.  I love it! I can be elegant in a dress and this blazer or casual with my jeans and the same blazer.   I am a mother, wife, entrepreneur, a young woman and I feel this blazer let me do all my rolls with confidence and comfort, let's be honest, there are some clothes that if you try to be elegant, you can not hold your children or chase them, you can not go work on them or feel comfortable.

No me canso de este moda, lo amo! Puedo ser elegante en un vestido con este blazer o casual con mis jeans puestos  también. Yo soy una madre, esposa, entrepreneur, una mujer joven y me gustar usar ropa que me permita desempeñarme en todos mi roles al mismo tiempo, con tranquilidad y comodidad.  Seamos honestos, hay ropa que al ponerse para verse elegante no te permite cargar a tus hijos por qué se arruga o te queda más apretada, no podrías trabajar en ella o simplemente estar cómoda.

Tips para enruchar la tela

Hola amigos, he estado trabajando en un vestido rosa que me gustaria lucir el dia de mi cumpleaños;  Es el patrón de Vogue 9100.

Les recomiendo muchísimo este patrón que es fácil.  Mientras trabajaba en el recogido o enruche de la falda realice diferentes técnicas para esta, entre los que esta subir la tensión de la maquina de coser, también intente de enruchar con la fileteadora, halar los hilos de la bobina pero finalmente  encontré la técnica que mas comoda.

De inmediato les cuento que no la he inventado yo, la escuche una vez en un programa de televisión de Nancy zieman y le he recordado durante el proceso de este vestido.

Primero, veamos una foto para tener una idea mas clara.

Aqui esta, mientras Nancy dice que hagamos un zigzag ancho, yo decidi terminar el borde de mi tela con la fileteadora, a la final siempre quiero evitar que se me deshile la tela.

Ahora la idea es pasar hilo grueso, yo use hilo de bordar, (también puedes usar dos hebras de hilos al mismo tiempo) por debajo del zigzag o del fileteado, y al llegar al final solo debes de tirar del hilo grueso y punto, el recoje o enrucha la tela.

Eso era todo, no hay que buscar el hilo de la bobina y comenzar a jalar con el riesgo de danar tu tela, que si puede suceder en las mas mayoría de las telas; tampoco tienes que estar cambiando la tensión de la maquina o adivinar.

Este es un proceso simple y sin complicaciones, se los recomiendo mucho.

En esta foto puede observer con mayor detalle a que me refiero con pasar el hilo grueso por el fileteado o el zigzag.

Tips for gathering fabric

hi friends, here I am working in a pink dress that I wish to wear for my birthday, it is the pattern from vogue 9100.

I have to tell you that I love it and recomend it, but while having working in the gathering of the skirt, I had to go through several techniques like high tension in the sewing machine, gathering in the serger and finally I got to my favorite.

I didn't  invent it, I  remember Nancy Zieman talked about it in one of her programs and I decided to give it a try.

First, let's see a photo to have a clear picture of the idea.

Here it is, while Nancy says to use a zig zag stitch, I decided to finish the edges of my fabric so it doesn't unravel and in the thread of the lower loop, I pass my orange floss all the way until the end, from end to end and pull the tread. That is right! There is not science about it, but it won't ruin your fabric, you don't have to find the bobbin thread to make the pulling easier and much more, you don't have to struggle. 

This picture is much more close to the concept of my words, and next a picture of the accomplished goal.

Transition to fall

Hello my dear friends, finally is the time to transition into fall, here in Florida we don't get below the 80 degrees Fh yet, but as ridiculous as it sounds, I have seen people covered with jackets,high knee socks and even ear covers for the cold that we are not facing Yet.  Yes! I do laugh because I am a realistic person and you can not dress in this weather like an eskimo, better yet I am still loving my short pants and sandals.

I decided to get an outfit to start my transition into fall and I have designed and created my own pattern, which I love.  My fabric choice for this Blouse is a knit, very thin but I double layered with a white knit line just to give some texture to the fabric, I don't like thin fabrics an less is a crepe or chiffon.

If you like my Blouse and would like to have one the same style, I recommend the pattern V9204 from McCall or Vogue.

 Today at the shopping center somebody asked me if this was a Michael Kors shirt, and I answered him: not it is not Michael kors but Julie Harris Creations, so thank you for the compliment, you have made my day! Yes indeed.

Mi trancision al otoño!

Hola amigos, hot mi tema es la trancision de verano al otoño, como muchos de ustedes saben aqui en florida aún no llega,os a los 80 grados Fh, pero tan ridiculo como suena y ustedes se podrán imaginar, he visto personas vestidas con chaquetas, medias hasta la rodilla y con cubre orejas! Si me he reído mucho, por favor hace calor y una maravillosa brisa que te envuelve en magia pero nada de frío como para salir vestido de tal forma.

Yo aún estoy disfrutando de las sandalias y pantalones cortos pero ya empezó mi moda para un otoño lleno de brisas con la blusa que les voy a mostrar a continuación. La he diseñado y creado yo misma.

Estando en El Centro comercial una persona se me acercó y me pregunto si my blusa era una Michael  Kors, yo le respondí que no, era de Julie Harris Creations y muchas gracias por el cumplido, me hiciste el día le dije.  Yo no me cambio por nadie, estoy agradecida con Dios por la oportunidad que me da de crear con mis talentos.

 Así que amigos si desean una blusa con el estilo parecido al mío puedes adquirir el patrón comercial de Vogue 9204, mi tela es tela elástica de algodón o Jersey, la he comprado en la tienda de telas de Joanns fabric store.

Outfit that I am still in love with

 So many of you are most probably getting ready for long sleeves shirts, boots and hats; but for my family and I, we are enjoying the breeze and cool water of the Beach in Florida.  I decide to change the park play time of my son for some amazing time in family with plenty of sand and water, well after all there is nothing he loves more than water.

 My swimsuit as usual, it is a new garment in my closet made with fabric from Jo Ann and the amazing patter from McCall V9192 (Vogue). 

 It is difficult to sew? No.  Only make sure to follow the guidelines and for expert seamstresses you will be done in an evening.
what I love from this pattern so much is the fact that is very classic, it matches my mother/wife life style but it is still very sexy.  I wont consider it vintage  at all in my own personal opinion.
I love the very low back style and the V neck at front.

I am excited to be back to my blog after a long time off taking the time to control my health issues.  Maybe another reason why my family and I enjoy relaxing at the beach. I know many of you are planning a cruise for the winter, or vacation at the beach, so don't forget to pack plenty of swimsuits that you can make yourself with the McCall V9192, I highly recommend it!

Outfits que Enamoran

Por ahora muchos de ustedes se estan preparando para las maravillosas tardes de otono y el invierno que para muchos no es mas que lluvias, pero para mi familia y yo no es mas que una excusa para irnos dos veces por semana despues del trabajo a disfrutar la brisa, arena y el mar.

Mi vestido de bano es una de las nuevas prendas que hice con telas de la tienda de Jo Ann, con el patron Vogue de McCall V9192.  dificil? No para nada, para las modistas con mas experiencias solo les tomaria una tarde para dejarlo listo.  De este patron me gusta todo, el talle bajo en el escote de la espalda, y el escote en V muy bajo por cieto en el frente del vestido.  Me he enamorado de esta prenda, lo hice en un color muy clasico que se adapta ambos el color y el modelo a mi estilo de vida de mamá y esposa.  No consideraría este vestido de bano Vintage para nada, al menos no en mi opinion personal, pero si pienso que es clasico y sexy.

El estar de vuelta a mi blog con este outif veranero que para mi es parte de cualquier epoca del ano porque vivo en las costas de florida es emocionante, me habia ausentado del blog porque me estaba tomando un buen tiempo para tomar el control de algunos problemas de salud que ya estan mas organizados, y bueno decidí volver con este outfit porque aunque en muchos lugares ya esta cayendo el frio y muchos se estan vistiendo de botas y blusones, otros nos preparamos para vacacionar en cruseros, irse a la playa a final de ano y este es el major tiempo para empezar a coser esos vestidos de banos que tanto anhelan lucir.  Asi que no se olviden de comprar su patron de Vogue V9192 si aun no lo tienen.

Es uno de mis patrones favoritos si planeas hacer tops para cada dia pero con tu estilo unico.  Yo soy de las personas que piensa que cada mujer alegra y da elegancia a cada prenda que la vista, pero en muchas ocasiones, son los disenos y las tela quienes nos alegran e inspiran.

This is one of my favorite patterns if you are planning to make a casual top with your own style.  I am the kind of person that thinks, that every woman bring elegance to every garment she wears, but in many different occasions, it is our garment or fabric who inspires us.

A cassual top / Un Top Casual

My fabric choice is a beautiful georgette from the store online www.fabric.com the color is peach for the some of you that could be interested on it.

La tela escogida para este top es un hermoso Georgette de la tienda online www.fabric.com  el color es durazno, para aquellos interesados.

I was inspired in the McCall's top M6436, I made some changes to the top design in the shoulder line so my shoulders could look more prominent and I don't loose my figure inside the top since I took away the darts for this fabric type. 

Me inspire en el look del patrón comercial de McCall´s M6436, le hice algunos cambios al diseño en la línea de hombro, para hacerlos lucir más prominente resaltando mi figura y sin esconderla . También le quite las pinzas por el tipo de tela que escogí.

 Wrap Blouse / Blusa Cruzada

 Inspired in my McCall's pattern V8833, I have always enjoyed a wrap blouse that makes a simple pair of short look so elegant and ready for any event.

Inspirada en mi patrón V8833 de McCall´s, siempre he disfrutado una blusa cruzada como esta que le brinda elegancia a un par de shorts tan simple como estos.

 My fabric choice was a linen blend from the store www.fabric.com but I will love to try it in challis as well.

La tela que escogí es una mezcla de lino de la tienda online www.fabric.com pero me gustaría hacerla también en un challis también.

I highly recommend this pattern from the very easy of vogue collection!

Les recomiendo a ojos cerrados este patrón de Vogue de su colección llamada muy fácil de hacer!

How to Use a Twin Needle

The Twin Needle

The twin needle can be used to finish the hem of your blouses, the hem of the sleeves and for decorative stiches in the garment.  In the picture above you can see me finishing the hem of my green tunic of 2 weeks ago, Usually I use a special machine for this purpose, but I could not let this tutorial scape from my hands, and it is here for you.

here are some tips for it use:

+  if your machine is automatic like mine, please don't use the automatic cutter neither to thread your machine, do all this manually.

+  Try to use it only with straight stich and zig zag Stiches.

+  try to use a foot for the machine that is precise just for it..  Mine works perfectly with the same foot of the single needle.

The process to use a twin needle

 In this picture to the left, I have to different places for the thread, Usually all the machines bring these two places.
My machine has numbers that indicate the different steps that I need to follow to thread the needles.
Tip:
we need to make sure that we grab both threads at the same time and pull at the same time to avoid any tangling.

 Let's beging, I pass both threads under the step 1, and I will pass behind the cap to go to the number 2.

from number 2 at top, I will bring my threads down to number 3.

 Down from number 3, I will make an U bringing my threads up to number 4. go behind the cap of number 4 and bring my threads down in the same way to number 5.

Here we are in the step 5!

Secure the thread in the step 6 where it keeps your threads secure and ready to thread the needles

Listo!! it is ready.  Now all you have to do is to start sewing either in straight stitch or zigzag.

como usar la aguja doble

La Aguja doble

Por ejemplo para terminar los dobladillos de  mi tunica Ombré yo preferi usar una aguja doble que le da el mismo estilo que usan en las prendas que estan listas para usar.  Usualmente yo prefiero usar mi maquina especial para esa costura, pero no podia dejar de traerles este tip que ustedes pueden hacer en sus maquinas, sin gastar un dollar mas que en solo una aguja doble.

La aguja doble es esta que les maestro en la foto de la izquierda y que es muy facil de usar, pero tiene algunas tips que les voy a dar:

1.  Si tu maquina es automatica como la mia no uses el cortador automatic, simplemente saca tu hilo al terminar y corta.

2.  No uses puntadas decorativas con esta aguja, preferiblemente puntada de linea y de zig zag.

3.  asegurate que el pie de la maquina sea el ideal para trabajar con aguja doble.

El proceso para coser con la aguja!

+  En esta foto les muestro que lo primero es la ubicacion de mis dos hilos.  En general todas las maquinas tienen estos dos palitos para ubicar los hilos; toma los dos hilos al mismo tiempo y procede a pasarlos como normalmente se hace con uno solo.  Mi maquina tiene Numeros que nos indica los pasos uno a uno para enebrar el hilo.

Ya he pasado el hilo por debajo del punto 1.  procedure a pasar por detras al punto 2 totalmente hasta abajo.

Ya he pasado por detras del paso 2, ahora debo bajar hasta el paso 3.

Aqui ya he bajado de el punto 2.  hasta el punto 3. 

 Luego de bajar totalmente al punto 3 debo hacer la U  subiendo hasta el punto 4 arriba, paso por detras del paso 4 y bajo por el mismo abertura hacia el punto 5, y ya estaremos listos para enebrar la aguja.

Del punto 5 aseguraremos los hilos detras del paso 6 donde mantendra los hilos seguros y listo para enebrar las agujas.

Justo donde la queriamos! Nota: mi maquina tiene enebrador automatico que en este momento no voy a usar porque es solo para una aguja simple y Bueno esta es doble.

Ahora simplemente procede a enebrar cada aguja, una a una y Ya estas listo para comenzar a coser.  si tu idea es la de terminar los falsos de tus mangas y camisas como lo hacen en las fabricas de ropa, asegurate de usar una puntada directa.
